"My daughter lives in Ohio and is very active with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and I am so proud of her."

By Barbara Chastain

In October, 2009, my husband (the love of my life, my inspiration, my best friend for fifteen years) was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was a big man and was a fighter and fought till the end. As I read your book about your husband, it was like reading about my husband. Unfortunately, Jim's was in stage 4 and had already gone to his liver. He went through two different rounds of chemo, but it had progress to far. So he lost the battle on May 16, 2010. But I can't really said he lost, I think we both won, because we got to spend every day for fifteen years together and God was good to us. The last few months we got to say everything we needed to say and got to realize how precious life is. God gave him to me for those years and I feel so blessed. Every day is a struggle and some days I don't know what to do without him, but I can hear him saying "you need to get on with it".

My daughter lives in Ohio and is very active with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and I am so proud of her. I attended a meeting in Columbus when I was visiting and the dedication to raising awareness for this awful cancer made my heart feel great. We need to get more support for pancreatic cancer and I will do what I can to make sure that everyone I know and talk to will be aware.

I pray for all the afflicted and their caretakers. I also want to thank you for being the spokesperson for the dreadful cancer.
Patrick was in inspiration to us as we traveled through the journey and you are an inspiration to me and I hope someday, I will be able to be an inspiration to others.
